Warner Bros; American film and television series producers, hired Michele Mulroney and Kieran Mulroney in February 2007, to write a script for a live action film on Justice League of America. The script was in progress and in June 2007, the studio executives gave a positive feedback on it. George Miller, an Australian filmmaker was signed as the director in September of the same year and the shooting was supposed to begin in February 2008.
The studio wanted to film Justice League in the technique of ‘motion capture’ completely and the budget was $220 million. They had planned to shoot Justice League in Australia. But, all of a sudden in January 2008, Warner Bros. declared the film to be on indeterminate hold.
The studio felt that the script written so far, needed some more perfection but the famous ‘Writers’ Strike’ of 2007-08 stopped all the literary work. The strike ended on February 12th, 2008 and Warner Bros decided to start shooting in April. The Mulroneys were asked to rewrite the script and the production department for the film was shifted to Canada from Australia. Marit Allen, the original costume designer for the film passed away in November of 2007, so Weta Workshop was hired for the same.
The cast was never declared officially but according to many news brokers, around 40 actors and actresses had arrived for audition.Joseph Cross, Max Thieriot,Michael Angarano,Minka Kelly, Scott Porter and Adrianne Palicki were some of them. It was said that Miller would select young and unknown actors so that they will grow into the roles over the course of Justice League Trilogy.
Adam Brody was cast as Flash, D. J. Cotrona as Superman, Rapper Common as Green Lantern, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman and Armie Hammer as Batman. From February 2007 to April 2008, the project of Justice League film was subject to innumerous discussions and rumors until when the project was eventually put on indefinite hold. Joel Silver; the producer stated that the project was tabled and Miller; the director stated in August 2008 that they are going to resume the project next year.
But on 22nd August, 2008, it was reported by ‘The Wall Street Journal’, that Warner Bros. has planned to release 4 individual superhero movies before doing the multiple character Justice League movie. Though Miller stated that the movie is being worked on seriously, it is believed now that he is off the project. Christopher Nolan is believed to be the director of the Justice League film, but actually he is busy with upcoming Superman and Batman films.
