'Lasso of Truth' is one of the fictional signature weapons of the Wonder Woman; Diana. Wonder Woman is mostly depicted and pictured as carrying this Lasso of truth in her hands.

It is a very powerful magical weapon of hers and she handles it with absolute accuracy and precision.

The author William Marston modeled this Lasso of Truth on the lie detector instrument and the polygraph test instrument.The earth goddess Gaea possessed a golden girdle.When Hippolyta, Diana’s mother was appointed the queen of Amazons, she was given a part of this girdle. Antiope, Diana’s aunt later acquired that belt cunningly. The sun of Zeus; Hephaestus, the Blacksmith God created the Lasso of truth out of the golden girdle of Gaea and Hestia gifted it to Diana – the Wonder Woman.

Lasso of truth is a rope of concentrated energy which glows in the magical aura of the fire of Hestia, but it doesn’t burn. It is unbreakable and indestructible whereas Hippolyta claims that even the Greek demigod Hercules – the sun of Jupiter cannot break it. The only time Lasso of truth was broken when Diana met Rama Khan and Bizarro, other DC Comics characters, and truth itself was interrogated.

Lasso of truth can be stretched as far as Diana wants and she is the only one who can control it. Wonder Woman binds the enemy with it and it compels them to speak out the truth. Once this weapon also had mind controlling powers and it could force the one who is caught to obey any command given by Diana. Lasso of truth can wield Superman as well and once Diana defeated Captain Marvel, God Ares and God Hades with it. Diana uses this weapon as a whip or a loop.The fires of Hestia in the Lasso of truth can recover lost memories, create illusions and also bring one out of illusions, cure someone of insanity, reform bodies and enable the Wonder Woman to take different forms. It can also protect the one in its captivity or encircled by it from outer magical and non magical attacks.
